Jan Ryant-Dřízal

Composer

Jan Ryant-Dřízal is one of the most prominent voices of the young Czech generation in the field of contemporary artistic creation. He is the first-ever laureate of the Czech Philharmonic Composition Competition, the holder of the award for the most successful young author, and many other awards. His work is regularly performed on Czech and international stages and commissioned by leading festivals and ensembles.

Jan Ryant-Dřízal’s music combines contemporary compositional language with immediate communication. His compositions appear as thoughtful, living organisms with a solid form, internal tension, and emotional impact.

A striking feature is the sound-color imagination, which is never an end in itself, but is the bearer of deeper musical meanings. Dřízal is a composer of a distinctive sound imagination, and listening to his compositions can be almost a visual experience.
